POEM A DAY: OCEAN VUONG

‘The refugee camp sick with smoke and half-sung’

- Self Portrait as Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong.

‘The refugee camp sick with smoke and half-sung’
- Self Portrait as Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong from his 2017 PBS Recommendation Night Sky with Exit Wound. It’s #refugeeweek2020 so we’re sharing thought provoking poems around this vital issue at a time when concepts of home, refuge and crisis have been brought closer to home for so many by the current pandemic. Ocean was born in Vietnam but at the age of two, after a year in a refugee camp, his family arrived in the US.
