We're so excited to announce Strange Husbandry as our Autumn 2024 recommendation. Lorcán Black's collection contrasts modern-day queer stories with older stories taken from myth and history, with poems acknowledging both the pain and precariousness that exists in personal stories and both internal and external conflicts. Rooted from London during the Covid-19 pandemic and the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Strange Husbandry explores themes of family, compassion (especially for men damaged by toxic masculinity, not only in our society, but for those affected by it in Russia and Ukraine), as well as the joys and difficulties of queer relationships in a heteronormative society.
