The late Irish poet Eavan Boland has been posthumously awarded the Costa Book Award for poetry.
Boland, who died from a stroke aged 75 in April, was celebrated for her final collection, The Historians, published by Carcanet.
The judges described it as "an extraordinary book of lyrical power that has some of the finest lines of poetry written this century".
The Historians now goes forward, alongside the other four category award-winning books, for the overall Costa Book of the Year to be announced on the 26th of January.
