Hippopotamus Poetry Card for Children
Featured Poem: Anon, 'The Hippopotamus'
The poet Anon is surely the most ubiquitous poet on the planet. Whoever wrote this beautiful limerick certainly knew how to raise a laugh among children (bottoms being the very quintessence of wit). The rhymes are irresistible. Altogether, it’s an excellent bit of fun.
The magnificently-tattooed hippo is drawn by Nottingham artist Amy Blackwell, who describes herself as “…a painter, printmaker, knitter, maker, writer, reader and I’m very fond of pancakes…I'm inspired by the weird and wonderful, clashing colours, the natural world, history, fashion and folklore. I paint, print and draw and have done (to varying levels of success) since day one.”
