We're proud to say our last four Poetry Book Society choices have all been powerful female poets. In Summer 2017 we celebrated Sinead Morrissey's On Balance, which includes poems about the first female pilot Lilian Bland, and our Autumn 2017 Choice Pascale Petit's Mama Amazonica, which explores her own mother's rape and psychiatric trauma and the Winter Choice was Joy by Sasha Dugdale which gives voice to Blake's wife Catherine. Other recent PBS recommendations have included the Toronto poet Anne Michaels, Elaine Feinstein, Rachael Boast, Karen McCarthy Woolf, Tara Bergin, Jane Griffiths and our Summer Pamphlet Choice Maya Catherine Popa. Members can order copies of all these books on our website with 25% discount.

Our Spring mail out has an equally feminist twist with our new Spring Choice - Who is Mary Sue? by Sophie Collins exploring the role of women, selfhood, shame, guilt and perception. Join today to get your copy in our mail-out next week! Charter Members will also get copies of the four PBS recommendations, including Hannah Sullivan's Three Poems, Phoebe Power's Shrines of Upper Austria. So many inspiring women poets to read!

We'll be sharing some of our favourite poems by women throughout today on social media. Who is your favourite female poet? Vote for your favourite 100 women poets on our social media poll to celebrate the power of women's voices and help to spread the word about great poetry by women #women100 #votes100 #suffragettes100
