Watchlar: A requiem of parts by Lisa Matthews
Watchlar – a requiem of parts is a phoetic elegy; a splintered cry from a dark place towards a lighter one. It is fragmented because the whole is too heavy for one pair of hands to carry, and because some things cannot be spoken. Ever. Which is not to say we are silent, we just – if we can – find different words and images to tell our stories. These images, in lieu of the right words tell part of the Watchlar story. Grief has, is, or will touch each of us and this is a book of poems not without words, but beyond words. It is a version of a heart/hart: mine, yours, theirs. His.
